Welcome to my world of dessert!! I am super thrilled to be sharing this journey. Let’s jump right in on why we are here.
Confession time, I have a weakness for desserts or anything sweet for that matter, therefore I chose to create this blog as a creative outlet for my passion and to provide an insight into my world of baking of Traditional Desserts Of The World.
I started baking 10 years ago and fell in love with the art of food and particularly anything considered a dessert. At that time, my only concern was perfecting my chocolate cake recipe or making sure my vanilla sponge did not sink PS: Still working on that, until 2 years ago when I decided to start my own baking business and became a fully established home baker in Zimbabwe. This was all whilst completing my studies in the world of Hospitality. Now, I bet you’re thinking sounds like you got what you wanted, why are we here?. Weeelll, not really!! This next bit will explain why!
We all know dessert staples like Tiramisu, Apple Pie and Cheesecake, and we all occasionally indulge in our favourite versions of these desserts. (Feel a BUT coming..) I know you particularly have days where you crave a good slice of rich chocolate cake, BUT lately I have been craving something more, I have been wondering what traditional homemade desserts are like, from all over the world. Those desserts with their own cultural meaning and history , the desserts that do not always make it to the menu but are worth every bite (and every penny). Those rustic homemade desserts that make you close your eyes and forget where you are for a moment. Stay with me…

Being Zimbabwean, desserts are not a huge tradition, however when we do have them, it is almost always the typical cake slice for a special occasion or store bought confections. YES, we all love the classics but they don’t always make us feel nostalgic or part of our culture and history. So I made it my mission to discover the traditional humble desserts, like the ones made in grandma’s kitchen for generations, the local treat that everyone enjoys, the best kept secret of a small town. Hoping to find inspiration and hoping to discover flavours I didn’t even know existed.
This page will become a place where you can sit back and learn something new, by joining me on this journey through this blog and through MY TV, where I will be taking you on a live voyage around the globe in search for a new confection.
The goal is to promote culture and heritage through desserts across the globe. I found a deeper meaning to the word hospitality through the sharing of food. This adventure is filled with tradition, a few calories and an occasional visit to the dentist, but absolutely worth it! I hope you can enjoy it with me.
My gift to you ‘My Treat.’
